Pregnant after a Loss

Results of Friday's level check is in

Last week I was debating whether or not to go in and have my progesterone levels checked.  I wanted to do this because I am constantly wondering if low progesterone played a role in my MC.

Anyway, I decided to go in to check things out, at exactly 4 weeks, on Friday.

They checked HCG and Progesterone.

HCG - 323

Progesterone - 26

I know that the HCG # doesn't matter as much as the doubling does and they are not having me come back to check for doubling, so not sure if that was useful at all?

Do these numbers look OK?  I really don't know and did not have any of this done in my first pregnancy.

TIA!!

  • Sometimes if the HCG is high enough they don't bother having you come in for another one.  My doctor wants progesterone to be anything about 10 for a non medicated cycle so your number looks great.

  • They look great to me!  My HCG was only 16 at my first draw.  Congrats!

  • That is a great number but I would have it checked again. I am a new kind of medical mystery (to Dr. My midwife isn't surprised at all) I have falling progesteron. If your second number stays up then your good. No matter what ny HCG does my progesteron doesn't stay up. I will have to be on progesteron for all future pregnancies including this one.

  • Your numbers look great! I had mine drawn at 4w1d and got hcg 554 and progesterone of 20.1. My doctor didn't think I needed a second set drawn but I pushed for them and had them drawn this morning. Just waiting until tomorrow to get the results and hopefully be able to take a deep breath. At 4 weeks, your progesterone is great and the hcg is within a normal range (which is a huge range). If you want to see if the hcg is doubling correctly I would ask for another draw in about 48 hours.

  • My hcg levels today were at 40, I am 4w 4days along.  So, I think your levels look amazing!

  • Some doctors don't want to rely on HCG for confirming a viable pregnancy. Low progesterone still could have played a role in your last miscarriage, but a lot of the time low progesterone points to an issue not necessarily a deficiency problem. Your progesterone looks good!

  • Those numbers look great to me!  The most important thing is the doubling, but your levels look really good!

I have the same quote in my siggy as you do, that made me smile.

  • Thanks ladies!  Glad to hear that my numbers look good!  I asked if I should come in to see if the hcg was doubling as it's supposed to and they said no.. not sure if I should demand this or just accept it.  I did read from one of you that doctors don't always count on hcg to measure whether a pregnancy is viable or not, so maybe that's the case here.  I'll just be happy with where things are now I suppose.
