Low Fluid Levels???

I went for my first non stress test this morning (due to low PAPP-A at 12 weeks) and fluid is very low. They like to see it at 11 and we are at 5.5. Anything below 5 and they deliver. I'm on strict instructions to drink a ton of water and report back in the morning but baby boy may be coming tomorrow.

Anyone else been through this???

I'm pretty sure low fluid is one of the issues that led to DrRX delivering Adalyn early. Thank goodness you're so far along. I hope the water helps to keep baby cooking in there for awhile longer. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm hopeful it works too! The nurses were all very insistent that I drink a ton of water and pack my bags.

UGH! Slightly freaked out, but at 36 weeks he should be okay.

Sorry the fluid levels aren't what they were hoping for. Get to chugging that water, and keep that LO cooking a little longer. GL!

Yes, I went in for a routine u/s at 34weeks 4 days and baby B had low fluid. I was admitted and on IV fluids. My levels were even lower the next morning so we did a C/S. Everyone was fine. Good luck!!

imanurse also had low fluid levels and she delivered her boy early. He is doing great now.

Rest up and drink lots of fluid. I think at 36 weeks your boy will be ok, you are only a week away from full term. I was born at 36 weeks and I turned out ok.

First of all, Kali, I can't believe you're already 36 weeks, and that you're little boy is coming soon!!!! Where did the time go.

As far as fluid level, one of my trips was very low. We were scheduled to deliver regardless at 34 1/2 weeks, thankfully with bed rest and monitoring we made it that far. Hopefully, they'll see an improvement for you tomorrow, but if not, I know that your little guy is going to do just fine!

T&Ps to you and your LO! I hope fluids and rest (I hope you are home resting now). I can't believe you are 36 weeks, either! LO should be fine if he needs to come early.

Hi there. Like babystinkbreath said, I had low fluid that was diagnosed pretty early on at 20w6d. I was on bedrest for 14 weeks. They ended up doing a c/s at 35w0d because I was pre-eclamptic and for my on-going low amniotic fluid levels. Our DS did well being born at 35 weeks. I did steroids around 30 weeks because at that time there was cord flow compromise and his growth rate had slowed. So they thought delivery was imminent. But those issues stabilized and I was able to make it to 35 weeks. Our son was able to come home w/us. He is doing well & growing like a weed. He only needed 1 day in NICU for low blood sugars (I'm a Type 1 diabetic). 36 weeks is great! Do they know about how big your baby boy is? Our son was 4 lbs, 10.5 oz at birth, which is very close to the 4 lbs, 7 oz estimate we had the week before his birth. I hope rest and fluids do the trick, but don't be surprised if they don't. I am sure your DS will do great no matter what! Lots of luck to you!

I have been through it but because of pprom. When water bag is not broken, just really really pay attention to baby's movements til you go back in. It could be a sign of distress.

Thank you ladies! I'm 36 weeks 1 day .. So if we deliver tomorrow 36 weeks 2 days. We did a growth scan at 33 weeks 2 days and they measured him at 5 lbs. So I figure he wis somewhere between 5 and 6 now. Hopefully closer to 6. I had just been really hoping to make it to 38 weeks at least! I also don't know if they will just induce or do a c-section! Oh my ... Anyway, home resting and drinking tons of water!

I had low fluid and it was determined after I delivered that it was pProm with a tear or small hole that sealed over but not before causing an infection that eventually led to labor at 26 weeks.

Do what they say and drink TONS of water. If you find a moment that you are not actively drinking from your cup, do so! I found it easier to drink through a straw, since it made me sure to always be drinking it. It should definitely help increasing your fluid.

If your fluid is too low, they might do a C-section rather than inducing, or they may do an amnioinfusion during a vaginal birth. It can be dangerous to deliver vaginally with low fluid because it can cause cord compression.

I'm sure that you will be fine delivering at 36 weeks if need be! GL!

I hovered around the 6-7 range and while they kept an eye on it, they weren't overly concerned. I stayed as hydrated as I could. Sorry lady, hopes it stays stead or increases!
