Hello! So I just recently had my second chemical pregnancy back to back with no mensus in between. Just because I am pushing testing the doctor is going to start doing testing but of course since we are all soooo good at being negative Im afraid they wont find anything and that I will never be able to have a sticky baby!
Which devistates me beyond belief! Im only 23 years old and doc keeps saying your so healthy because I am so what is the deal??
He is going to run the basic phospholipid screenings and we are going to do an hsg here in the next few weeks. Than step 3 is chromosomal analysis (if nothing is positive before that).
Any advice? Anyone go through this? Ive never been told anything was wrong with me before like I said Im healthy and fit and young so Im boggled. Doctor is confident which scares me even more for false hopes. DH is confused as all could be and we just want answers. We need to have patience we know, but come on we all know thats super hard! Im getting pregnant....but why isnt it sticking???
THANKS LADIES!! HOPE TO JOIN YOU ALL SOON ![]()
Re: Recurrent chemical pregnancies....Answers anyone??
Hey there, I've had 4 early losses with a LC right in between. Have you had your hormone levels checked? I know how you feel about your dr...he convinced me my first one was a fluke and tried to pass the second one off as well since like you I was pretty young. I finally started seeing an re and he determined the problem was either genetic or hormonal. (genetics came back fine)
I hope you get some answers soon with this testing. You're not alone.
Start with your basic testing and go from there. I would check clotting disorders before genetic testing, JMO. I would also stop TTC during the testing process, get the full picture first. Quite honestly I have only heard of OB's giving the go ahead to try without waiting 1 cycle if age or health is a factor. Not judging you at all it just surprises me.
I get being frustrated, I had my first m/c at 24, DS at 25, Nichols (stillborn at 27), m/c 6 wks and m/c at 15 wks at 28. You name the test I have had it, only one thing came back and it is rather common. Accordingly they aren't sure why I have had any losses, a few guesses but that is all. You may consider going to see a specialist after getting the first round of testing done. Also, do you know your blood type if your are RH neg? Things that that are tested at 8 wks so I would suggest those standard tests as well.

What PP said....I had 6 chemical pregnancies all ending before 6 weeks when we TTC #2. 4 of them were in a row
We couldn't find anything wrong...I do have the MTHFR mutation but was on baby aspirin. My uterus was fine (no polyps or septum to inhibit implantation). I was on progesterone "just in case" it was a luteal phase defect although my progesterone levels were always fine. Our next testing option was a karotype for a translocation genetic issue but it was going to be $1000 to test us and we weren't sure if we even wanted to know.
After #6 I was at a total loss...thought I may never have another child. We did clomid after a break cycle and I got pregnant again with a healthy baby.
I will probably never know what this happened so many times to us and we don't plan on trying again for #3.
Good luck to you and I hope you find out what's going on. I think my OB was sort of "meh, it's probably just bad luck" after 2 losses. After #3 he took it more serious. After 4 losses I was refered to an RE.

I had two early losses/chemical pregnancies in a row. My Doc wouldn't do any chromosonal testing until after 3 losses because it really could just be the wrong egg meeting the wrong sperm on the wrong day... even twice in a row.
We tested my Thyriod after the second since it was a pretty easy test to do. Everything checked out fine.
My Doc gave me an Rx for Prometrium, a progesterone supplement. There aren't many answers as to whether or not low progesterone causes MC or just that progesterone drops during a MC, but since my progesterone was low the one time they tested it my doc wanted me to have it as an option. I filled my Rx two weeks ago when I got my BFP and so far so good. I am 6w3d and the most pregnant I have ever been, I am even starting to feel some nausea which I imagine is a precurser to morning sickness.
Don't get too discouraged. You do have options available and time on your side being as you are only 23. PgAL is full or women who have been right were you are and blessed with buns in the over right now. I hope we see you oven here very soon.
Hey, I also had two back to back chemical pregnancies, and got pregnant immediately AGAIN the next month, and this one has stuck! I'm 18 weeks now. I have NO idea why the first two happened. I had all the testing run after the second, they didn't find anything (well, they had a lab error that said I might have lupus, which scared the CRAP out of me but it turned out to be totally lab error). I should have just listened to my doctor when she said she was pretty sure it was a coincidence.
I did start taking baby aspirin and folic acid every day, I have no idea if that helped this one stick. Maybe talk to your doc about it. Good luck!!
