I'm pretty much just reiterating what I wrote in the MFI check-in below, but here I am )
I'm
Beth (30), my husband (37) & I came off birth control and started trying in Sept '10, I had some inconsistent cycles, started using OPKs and realized I was ovulating if not always around the same time of each cycle, at least every cycle it was happening.
After a year
someone suggested my husband have a SA which revealed no sperm. For some reason, this had NEVER occurred to me as being a possibility. that probably sounds ridiculous, but of all the things I was worried about being an issue, that was not one for which I was prepared.
After blood tests, ultrasounds, a MFI urologist and finally a biopsy last month, it's been found to be Sertoli-only syndrome (only the 3rd case our RE has seen in her 20 years! Yay medical anomalies!) and that pretty much ends that. We have moved on to DS and are currently "shopping around" and hope to have registered with a bank and found a donor by the end of this week/next week so we can be ready to for our first IUI cycle in late March.
So, that's where we are. Our health insurance carrier, Cigna, seems like it's going to be covering a good chunk, which is helpful and basically now we're waiting on some answers to logistical things like how to figure out when to order sperm/have it delivered if I don't know when precisely I'm going to ovulate and how the insurance process works, but in the grand scheme of things, those things are pretty easy to answer I'd assume.
Nice to "meet" everyone and I look forward to chatting more!

Thanks. Obviously the optimistic side of me wants to keep thinking "DS will do the job in 1 round of IUI! No problem! Now that we have actual swimmies, what could stop us!" But then I have to stop myself because...15% chance each time does not really make for great odds that it will happen immediately. Sooo we'll see how it geos!
