I have red hair and I always dreaded having a red-head as a child. Don't get me wrong. I have grown to love my hair color...but I know what is in store for my poor, sweet, beautiful boy. People who don't have red hair have always said how great it would be if my baby was a red head too. Little do they know that he will be subjected to strangers touching his hair and the torment of classroom bullies.
Anyone else a red head who had a red head for a child? What are your thoughts?
Re: Oh no! I got a redhead!
no red heads here, but you'll probably appreciate this blog post!

I am a brunette Italian and our son came out bright red! Daddy was a flaming redhead when he was younger and now looks more dirty blonde. So, I assume Seth will be the same way. I was very surprised. I thought my genes would be dominant. Not the case! There is no discernible trace of me in this child at all! Even my side of the family admits to this.
I feel the same way-- maybe my apprehension is because I have a boy.
My big sister has red hair and although she sometimes hated it growing up, she really wanted a redheaded child. Instead, she got two with light blonde hair. The way I see it every child is going to get picked on for something.
Red hair is beautiful and you grew to love it and so will your son.
DS1 is a ginger ( I also enjoy calling it this instead of redhead). DH was born blond but later turned brown after puberty. I naturally have dark brown hair that in the summer would turn auburn from the sun. There is red hair on both sides of our families so I wasn't suprised that DS1 turned out ginger. It is actually really pretty in that it is not bright red and depending on the light it can even look more auburn or light brown with red highlights. See picture below!!
I always had the hots for the red-haired men when I was in the dating world.
DH has strawberry blonde and I love it.
Just be sure you don't allow your feeling to subconsiously affect him. He may have no issue with it at all, but may start to if he feels like his mommy does. Kids are amazing at picking up on stuff, KWIM?
I have a red head and couldn't be more thrilled. She got Daddy's red hair and my dark blue eyes. Lucky girl.
My family is a Foreign Service family. Families like mine are posted in every corner of the globe. We live our lives away from family, friends and the conviences and comforts of home. We often live and work in dangerous places among those that misunderstand our intentions and purposes. Sometimes members of our ranks sacrifice our lives to further diplomacy. Please remember that we serve too. And I'm always open to questions.
