Basal Thermometer

I purchased a CVS Basal Thermometer and have been using it religiously for the past five days. The first few days, it didn't beep (even after 60 seconds) so I started counting the 60 seconds. A couple of days ago it beeped when I was reading it and today it didn't beep again.

 Should I get a new thermometer? If so, what kind?

The Mabis one from Wal-Mart (and Amazon, I think?) is generally the most recommended one here.  I just bought one myself and will be using it next cycle.

This. Your BBT is not beeping because it's not done. I had the same problem until a few days ago, when I switched to the Mabis.

sometimes my CVS one take a little longer than 60sec, but it always beeps and store the temp like it should. You might just need to wait a little longer.

Wow. Thanks for the advice. I will definitely look into getting a Mabis one. I'm surprised at how long it can take when it says 60 seconds to be done!

I recommend the Mabis BBT from Walmart.

I've never had a problem with my up and up brand BBT from Target.

Yep. And ever since I switched to vaginal temping, my Mabis stopped beeping at me. So, I just hold it in there for 5-10 minutes and then get my reading.

(Okay, 10 minutes is excessive, I know, but sometimes my mind wanders until the snooze alarm.)

I have the CVS one and noticed the same thing. When I first got it sometimes it would take forever and other times it would beep so quickly that I would re-take it thinking it didn't work right. (I know... shame, shame!) I did order a Mabis one after my temps look like the rocky mountains this month so we'll see what happens with that one. I did get my progesterone checked and I didn't ovulate, which the chart showed, but I think I was holding out hope that maybe the thermometer wasn't working right!
