my son was dx'd with SPD a week after his 2nd birthday. and while i've always (and still) suspect autism, they seem to really be adament about dx'ing it due to his inconsistent eye contact and joint attention. we had a 3 month check up back with the developmental pedi on the 9th, and since he hasn't been showing any progress she said she will go ahead and retest ASD on May 8th. so far he's only in speech therapy since the OT wait list was long (he should be starting mid-march they said last week).
so my question is this. while i know both ASD and SPD can stand alone as the only dx, how likely do you think it is that they will never dx ASD? i've read about the new DSM criteria and all that. so when that comes out, his SPD will just automatically fall under ASD criteria?
also, in his report they marked down "infancy and childhood developmental delay, not otherwise specified", does that still count as PDD-NOS?
