8 Week Miscarriage after 8 days of Bleeding and SCH

Hi everyone,

  I've been looking at this board for over a week now. When I just turned 7 weeks i started having bleeding. They did and ultrasound but the baby was healthy and hanging in there. 2 days later had a repeat ultrasound since bleeding had not subsided. Everything still looked great with baby, heartrate had increased and growth was seen. They did notice a small subchorionic hematoma, but said that given it's location and how everything looked, that it should bleed out on it's own and I can go on and have a healthy pregnancy. I was told I should expect a few more days of bleeding. Bleeding continued (period like) and then on Sunday the cramping started. I went back in Monday and once again, things were fine. I was starting to accept that bleeding and cramping was just associated with SCH and I needed to stop worrying. Wednesday, however, the cramping hadn't stopped so I called the dr and went back in. I didn't even have my husband go with me that time because it was my 4th ultrasound. I regret that now. Ultrasound showed the baby died at 7weeks 6 days. No heartbeat and it was already starting to head down. I was an emotional wreck, and opted for a D&C that evening. I went straight to the hospital and had it done. Longest drive/wait ever. I was so distraught when I went into admitting I couldn't talk. And then three different people (I know it's hospital protocol) had to ask me what procedure I was having done. I remember before having to have the gas mask thing put on me the dr said, "when you wake up this will all be over." I'm still having a hard time with that comment. I don't want it to be over, I want to still be pregnant. I want to wake up and have this never happen.

I feel so empty. And of course, nobody says the right thing. I'm heartbroken. It's just so hard to see that little heart beating inside of you and then know that it stopped. ugh.. i'm so emotional.

 Anyway, for those of you who had a d&C, how long did bleeding continue? When did you get your period? How long did the dr tell you to wait to ttc again? Sorry for so many questions, I'm just curious. Thanks everyone and sorry you are all going through it, too.

I didn't have a D&C so can't offer any advice, but just wanted to say that I'm so sorry for your loss.  Sending you good vibes tonight.

I'm so, so, sorry for your loss.  It must have been so hard to deal with the worry for so long.

I did not have a d&c either, so I'm not sure how long bleeding would typically last.  From what I've seen, everyone has a different experience re: the return of your period, but most people can expect it within 4-8 weeks -- after 8 weeks, if AF hasn't come back, I think it is recommended you see your doctor. Most ladies have said that doctor's have advised them to wait between 1 - 3 months to TTC (that depends on your situation, I believe).

I'm so sorry for your loss. 

I had my d&c on 2/13. I spotted after the procedure for about 3 days, a little heavier bleeding for about 3-4 days after that, and have been very lightly spotting since. I think it's likely completely stopping soon because it's very, very light spotting at this point (it will be two weeks tomorrow since I had the procedure, which my dr told me to expect bleeding throughout that time). 

We were advised that we could TTC again after my first AF came.

I'm sorry for your loss. I had a D&E and my bleeding post procedure lasted 2 days.

The light spotting for 10 days. It has now 5.5wks since the procedure and I'm still waiting for AF to show.  I know my hcg levels are ok because that was my sign of of the miscarriage, losing all my symptoms. I thought I was just one of the lucky ones to feel better sooner than later!

Hope your heart heals as fast as your body and hope your hormones are kind enough to settle.

Our experiences are almost identical. I also bled for a week with a perfectly healthy 8 week baby. I didn't have a d&c so I can't help there. I just wanted to let you know there is someone else very similar to you out there that is thinking about you.

I am very sorry for your loss. I also had a miscarriage due to a subchronic hematoma. The dr said they often bleed out, but bc mine was so large and was covering the placenta it caused the baby to stop developing.

 I had a d&c on Feb 9th, I bled lightly for about 3 days, then heavy for about 2 days and after around 9 days the bleeding stopped. I haven't had my period yet, but its only been 2.5 weeks, but according to my chart I may have ovulated so hopefully it will come soon. My dr told me I can try after one cycle.

Sorry for your loss. just a heads up, you will see that not many people will say the right things to you after this experience. and the ignorance will continue for a while (i still get it). with my D&C, i spotted for 2 weeks after (only had 1 day of heavy bleeding) the procedure, at 4 weeks i spotted for another 9 days & at 7 weeks i got my first AF. everyone is different so just take it as it comes & realize your body will do what it needs to do to heal. we were told no sex for 10 days & to wait for 1 AF befor we start trying again...  (as you can see from my siggy, didnt work like i had hoped too). but wishing everyone healthy & quick recoveries!

I am so sorry for your loss. It sure is so tough to have to go through this. And you will quickly realize that most people will never say the right things. 

My D&C was 2/16 - I spotted very minimally for 6 days total and then completely stopped. On day 3 and 4 I had a couple of small dry blood clots that came out but that was the extent of it. My doc saw me 6 days after the D&C, checked me, and said we can start trying 2 months after we were diagnosed with the miscarriage (which was technically the first week of February) so we will have to wait 1-2 cycles depending on when I get AF.
