now i know why they stamp kids' hands at chuck-e-cheese

went there for a birthday party today.  dd1 started throwing such an incredible fit that dh had to carry her out slung over his shoulder, kicking and screaming all the way.  i'm sure it looked like we were abducting her.

fortunately, we had the matching hand stamps to prove that we all came in together.  in the haste, we forgot dd2's coat.  boo!

  • That had to be a sight to see, haha!

I've always thought that was a really good idea. You feel just a little bit safer while you are there.

  • haha oh no!

I think it's a great idea. I know when my siblings and I were younger they didn't do it, but the first time I took DD (maybe 5 years ago) they stamped her hand.

  • I had no idea what you were talking about becuase I haven't been to Cuck-e-cheese since I was about 12 but that does seem like a good idea.

  • oh, the incredible fits.  gotta love them.  went shopping at the mall today and ds1 was on the brink of one...teetering...luckily i had dh with me and he, like your dd1, was slung over the shoulder and removed from the poor unsuspecting bystanders.  haha.

at least at chuck-e-cheese, everyone else has kids too, so they're not glaring angrily at your kid.  instead they're thanking their lucky stars that their kid isn't the one kicking and screaming on the floor.

  • I always thought it was a great idea too. I didn't read the responses so sorry if this is a repeat question, but do they still do the glow in the dark stamps so that people can't see the number on a kids hand unless they have the black light?

yup.  the blacklight stamps.  i'm amazed that they don't seem to wash off when you wash your hands.

That happened to us last weekend. DS was writhing on the flour of the grocery store and screaming while various passers-by rolled their eyes. Toddlers are so fun sometimes.

  • Oh, poor kiddo! Did you call to see if her coat is still there?  I used to go with my younger brother and sisters, I loved that they did that.
