Good thoughts for G, please

Something is up with my little man and I don't know what it is. Any good thoughts are appreciated. Friday evening he had a period of about an hour where he cried frantically as if in pain (different than his usual cry) which ended when I nursed him and he fell asleep. Last night he did the same thing for almost 2 hours solid. We tried everything to calm him but he was so out of his gourd that I resorted to swaddling him with his arms down to try and help him get organized. Note that he had nit been swaddled since week 2 of life and he hated it. He didn't like it much at first either, but once swaddled, Shushed and swayed for about 30 minutes he fell asleep. And stayed that way. For 11 hours. Not a STTN success, just scary. And this morning he had another 15 minute screamfest before a feeding and fell asleep for an hour - without eating. He's not eating well, so I'm watching his diapers to make sure he's staying hydrated given the 11 hour night and one mediocre feeding this morning.

He did not and does not have a temp, and does not have GI symptoms I can discern, so I am out of ideas as to what is going on.

Thanks. I checked his gums on Friday and this morning and didn't see or feel a thing. He's dozing in my arms right now and "pacifying" himself on the boob without actually eating. It is all so strange. And I'm worried I am missing something obvious as to why this is happening.

Poor guy...I was thinking maybe a tooth too?? I hope that's all it is and he is feeling better fast!

Not yet. I'll probably text her later unless he worsens or looks to be getting dehydrated. Her office is across the street so I can get him in in the morning if all else fails.

Based on what you said could he have an ear infection?  DS acted like that when he got them - no other real symptoms either.  Has he had a cold recently - that could lead to an ear infection?  I'd call the pedi and get him checked.

He may be coming down with something. Ro slept like that just before she woke up with croup.  You are doing just right by keeping him hydrated and comfortable and watching his diapers. I hope he is back to himself soon!

Any sign of teeth? FWIW DD1 had ear infections with zero symptoms or just fussing no fever. Might be worth a Pedi visit if it continues.

Have you tried giving some Tylenol and seeing if that helps? I would call the pedi in the morning. DS did something similar once before and it turned out he was coming down with a bug. Our pedi told us they can sometimes feel it before we see any signs.

How scary and frustrating, especially without knowing what's going on.  Poor little man.  Sending lots of T&Ps to both of you.  I hope he starts feeling better soon.

I hope your LO feels better soon! *hugs* to you, I can only imagine how stressed you feel, not knowing what's wrong with him.

My first thoughts when reading your post were tooth or earache.  The fact that he's screaming around feeding time and that it seems to be erratic rather than constant screaming is whats making me think that.
