Late Term and Child Loss

certificate of stillbirth

We got the certificate of stillbirth in the mail yesterday.  My DH was kind enough to warn me that it was on the counter and to look when I was ready (big improvement from last week!).  I thought I would be very upset, but somehow it was comforting to know that there was some kind of record of the life and death of my baby boy.  It makes me sad to read his name with a date of death next to it, but it makes me happy to remember that he also had a life within me.  Strange how the things that should be easy can be so difficult and the things that should be so difficult can really bring healing.

  • We got one of these too, I think ours says "Certificate of Fetal Demise". It is sad, but I still am really glad I have it. It is proof that he existed, and it was extremely important to me.

  • We just received our certificate of life resulting in still birth I am so happy that I have that document. Now I have that and her death certificate it proves she was here and she just didn't die. That piece of paper brings me comfort not pain. I totally understand how you are feeling.
