I was totally unprepared to push for so long. I thought he would be out in 15 minutes. I pushed hard and didn't miss one contraction for 2 and a half hours. My contractions at that point were hardly a minute apart. I also pushed out an almost 10 pound baby (9 ponds 13 oz) but it was just a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Re: How long did you push for?
My family is a Foreign Service family. Families like mine are posted in every corner of the globe. We live our lives away from family, friends and the conviences and comforts of home. We often live and work in dangerous places among those that misunderstand our intentions and purposes. Sometimes members of our ranks sacrifice our lives to further diplomacy. Please remember that we serve too. And I'm always open to questions.

This was me too. He was too big and facing the wrong way.
This. After 40 hours of labor, I pushed like my life depended on it! The MW, the nurse, and my husband were impressed.
(I expected it to take much longer!)
DS #1: 1.5 hours
DS#2: Less than 3 minutes... two contractions and they counted to 10 a total of 5 times. AND he was 8/11 with a 14.5" head (and I'm 5'3"/140 lbs). Crazy!
w/ DD #1 - a little over 3 hours (induction w/ epi.. 9lbs 2oz)
w/ DD #2 - a little over an hour (induction w/ epi... 7lbs 14oz)
w/ DD #3 - didn't even push... i went into natural labor & was at the hospital for a little over 10 mins & they wouldn't let me push because the doctor wasn't there yet... the contractions pushed her out anyway after about 5 mins... lol (8lbs 15 oz)
