Breast question

I just had my LO on Tuesday and today my breasts started to hurt really really bad! Someone told me that means your milk has come through. Well I cant get my LO to latch and I've tried to pump but all that has come out is the colostrom(sp?). Why are they hurting so bad!?

their full! and you do give colostrum the first couple of days until your milk comes in, so its ok if its just colostrum you are pumping, thats the best for the babies because it contains the first and best vitamins for the baby!

Sounds like you're engorged. Keep offering you're breast to baby and pump if you need to. Warm compresses before a feeding for a minute or two will get the milk flowing, and cabbage leaves in between feedings will give you some much needed relief from the pain. I'm dealing with the same thing as we speak except my milk is in.  Keep going!
