I sometimes have a sensitivity to bandage adhesive. Totally forgot to mention in to any doctors or nurses. Well I thought my c/s incision was infected or reopening and had myself super freaked out...until I looked. I had a reaction to the steri-strips! So I took them off and am just keeping the area clean and dry. For the c/s moms, how long were you told to keep the steri-strips on?

Mine got taken off at a two week follow up that I had, but she told my H that he could take them off sooner if they looked like they were coming off so I'm sure you're fine.

Ditto to the reactions to adhesive...my body was full of rashes from all of the tape they used at the hospital. That being said, my doctor used a different type of adhesive when she took out the staples. She said it would come off in the shower...I've had it taped up for a week, and it's starting to come off.

My doc said I could take mine off after a week (which would've been 2 days ago) but I still have mine on. I'm too nervous to take them off just yet. I think tomorrow is the day though.

Me too with all the tape!! I don't have issues with the clear coverings for the IV so I totally forgot to tell anyone. DH told me he almost said something but didn't because he thought it didn't matter. I really wish he would've now!! I still can't believe I forgot. I had surgery a few years ago and actually got a burn on my hand from the IV tape they used.

Oh my gosh; I am MISERABLE. I completely forgot to tell my doctor too, and three days after my c-section I called the on call Dr and told them I had to take them off. (I was discharged after two days due to my baby being in the NICU). I took them off, but it wasn't any good at that point; the rash was covering my stomach. Since them its literally gone systemic- I have hives/rashes on my hands, my chest, my legs and my cooter. Seriously. I've itched myself raw and dosed myself up with bendryl. I am going positively bonkers from the itching. I've kept clean gauze over my incision to keep it dry but its starting to smell; not sure if its from the huge blisters that I scratched open or from the actual incision. Either way, I'm going into the Dr on Monday and demanding either a cortisone shot or SOMETHING to stop the itching. I cannot handle it.

I didn't have a section but I had an epidural. The dressing they put over that is huge. I've had a horrible reaction to it. I've finally got it calmed down with benadryl cream.

They told me they would start falling off and after 2 weeks to remove those remaining. I have issues with adhesives also. So far I've been lucky with the steristrips.

My steri strips came off on their own...2 days after I got home, which was 2 days after they got put on.  The nurse said they'd just come off, don't "take" them off, just let them come off as they will.  Again, it was only 2 days after...I guess it might depend on how much someone showers.  I'm a freak about it and showered every day while in the hospital and every day I've been home!  2 weeks today and I can hardly even tell I had a csection as far as "seeing" anything.  I'm still a little tender, but overall feel good.  Hope you're doing well.

My doctor told me to take them off on day 5.
