hi! I am 29 weeks right now, I was curious when growth ultrasounds are typically scheduled? My doctor said I would be getting one but I have yet to hear anything about it.
Does anyone get the ultrasounds at the Perinatal Center at St. Joes? I was curious if they've given you 3d pics of the baby or shown you the baby in 3d?
Thanks in advance!
Re: First time mom-to-be questions!!!
... every single day of forever.
With my 1st preg, I had an u/s at 6wks due to bleeding, another at 9wks (which would have been my 1st to confirm the preg had I had had bleeding) & 1 at 19wks. None after that.
With this preg, I had 1 at 10wks to confirm the preg, 1 at 19wks (a/s), 2 at 25wks (1st was because he didn't cooperate at the 19wk, 2nd was because they had concerns). Because of the concerns (#2 has been diagnosed with a condition called Ectrodactyly on his feet), they did a growth u/s at 29wks & my OB's office wants me to get another at 34wks & 1 more at 38wks.
ETA: I've been getting my scans since the 2nd 25wk one at GBMC's Prenatal Diagnostic Center because my OB wanted me to go to a specialist. They did a 3d of his face for us at the 29wk u/s
Likely at 36 or 37 weeks, if one is done at all. They want it to be close to when you are full term.
Our daughter came early, and she was twice the size of a typical baby her gestational age. If I make it to full term this time around, my doctor planc to do a growth u/s to get an idea of the size.
I had my growth u/s at 36 weeks for D1 and 34 weeks for D2. I wasn't going to get one with D1 but I was convinced D1 was breech, I think my OB ordered it just to keep me quiet. And turns out, she was breech.
D2 was breech too up until 33w6d, she turned the week before the u/s - it took most of the week and was fun to watch. So she was head down for the u/s and I was a go to attempt a VBAC, didn't work but oh well.
I'm not sure about your first question, James was 5 weeks early and I had a high risk pregnancy, so I'm not sure on the "regular" timing of things.
But I did get 3D ultrasounds and pictures at the Perinatal Center at St. Joe's. James was born in June of 2010. I even have a 3D of him about 9 hours before he was born, which made a kind of cool "photo op" if you will, because I have pictures of him in and out on his birthday.
