I woke up with a cold this morning.... 2 days from my due date, and NOW is when I have to get sick?? I've only been sick once this entire pregnancy with an 8-hour flu in the very beginning and I've been totally healthy since until this morning!
Part of me wants baby to hang in there until the worst of this is over, but the other part says screw it... let's just do this, congestion, sore throat and all!!!
Dear cold virus! UP YOURS!!!!
Re: No no no! Why cold virus? WHY??
We're due feb. 29th, and I also have a cold. It's no fun when breathe-awareness is a major coping skill that I rely on, but cannot breathe. I really think our bodies and baby knows that it's not a great time to make an appearance until things clear up a bit. We'll see if our babies hold out. Not sure if this helps, but so far the most helpful things for me are: saline nasal spray (unmedicated) or make your own with syringe. Also, drinking warm water with lemon and honey has helped the throat and congestion. Hydrate, too, I have coconut water and making "laborade" or you can get sports drink for electrolytes. Investing in soothing tissues has been nice, too. Usually we buy cheaper kinds that are scratchy. Hot shower with steam. If you can sit outside or take a walk I think fresh air has helped me the most. My MD gave me a list of approved cold medications to use during pregnancy, and I used once to help me sleep. I figured rest trumped any paranoia I have over medications. At this stage baby is already developed so I'm thinking it's ok.
Oh, and have your partner give you pep talks.
I was discouraged at first, because want to enjoy baby girl's birth, and hearing that we're all ok has made me focused on all the positive things.
tell your partner/labor coaches to wash their hands so they (knock on wood) don't get it. I got it from my partner.
Wishing you health and a positive experience!!!!
Happy Easter
