VBAC

To VBAC or not to VBAC

So on my PP check up, my doc told me that for the next time, we should try naturally - since I had a c/s because of fetal heart rate problems (after 45 hours of labour), and there were no other problems, he figured it wouldn't be a problem. He also didn't see a problem with me getting pregnant really quickly.

Well, now I am pregnant and the kids will be 11 months apart. We haven't talked VBAC yet, but I pretty sure that he will be willing to try. Now, I am a bit scared - isn't the time in between births too short? What do you ladies think?

 Thanks!

Re: To VBAC or not to VBAC

  • You need to see what your doctor says about the time. I have heard a min of 18 months but have also heard people on here post that time btwn births didn't matter. See if you have a local ICAN chapter, I went to a meeting and learned a lot from the group. It is a support group for VBACs. You have decide what u are comfortable with, good luck.
  • Im an rn in the newborn nursery and attend c-sections and had my first c/s in may but my baby weighed 9lbs 1.5 oz so she was a little big for me but I would think that your body hasnt had enough time for u to completely heal I could be wrong but my baby is 9 months now and my incision looks good but I think I would be scared to try to vbac but ask your dr they know what's the safest! Good luck. Your so brave for having two babies that close together!!!

  • I was told at my PP visit I could get pregnant as soon as I wanted, and was told I could VBAC.  Some OBs/hospitals are okay with it, others are not.
