Progesterone in the hooha Qs

So, my RE has me on 200mg 2x a day. I am getting used to it, I guess. I hate feeling like Ghostbusters in my pants- OK, so it isnt lime green, or lava like, or even that much- but still. I dont like wearing a panty liner all the time, but I will.

Does this stuff make you moody- or is it just me?

The real question though...

How do you have sex? Can you? I dont know if I even want to, but if I did...

We haven't had sex since conception (yikes!).  At first it was because of the progesterone, it was slightly irritating and just messy.  Not sexy at all.  If we had tried I think the best time would be mid day, smack between the two doses.  But I really can't offer advice, obviously.  Good luck!  The progesterone and pantyliners suck but it's so worth it.

I only did it at night so we were able to do the deed and then I'd put it in.  My doctor said it was fine.

I think it made me moody...maybe.  That may have been the pregnancy, it may have been the clomid before I got pregnant.  Who knows.  Maybe I'm just a moody b!tch

I was on it for almost 12 weeks and after about 10 weeks I think it gave me a yeast infection just because it sort of mucks up your own vaginal mucous and ph level. 

It did seem to make me very very bloated.

I'm also on 200mg 2X/day and have been since 3DPO.

I haven't noticed it making me moody, really.  As far as sex goes...the few times we've done it in first tri, we time it so it's at night right before my bedtime dose.  That way most of the gunk from the morning dose seems to be gone.

I wasn't on any sort of pelvic rest while taking it. 

I was only on it once a day, so I'd have sex maybe an hour before I had to take it.

Just a warning, sham wow your bag pretty good about an hour after sex, or else you'll have progesterone discharge + sex discharge pouring out. Not bad, just gross.

I didn't notice a mood change, but it did make me way more bloated. I think it also gave me intestinal discomfort. It got a lot better after I stopped it. Also, sex with it was fine. Just not right aftter I put it in.

I don't think it was the progesterone that made me moody, I think it was the "normal" pregnancy hormones.

I didn't have sex during the whole 1st tri because DH was gone for military training from 3 days before I found out I was KU until 14 weeks.   If he was home, I still don't think I would.  It always seemed to be a disaster zone with creamy leakage down there.  Between the mess and the lack of foreplay (it would just weird me out with all that gunk down there) I don't think that it would really put me in the mood.

I am on some kind of smooth round coated pill (prometrium?) I guess you normally take it orally. The pharmacy thought I was crazy for taking it vaginally. That is what you get with a small town

If I try it, big if, I will before my night dose and after a shower. I will also give DH a heads up that it wont be pretty.

I think I might just be moody.

Sorry to butt in for this unrelated comment, but:

I'm so glad to hear this!  We've had sex ONCE.  We did it during 1st tri, I felt so paranoid I was going to m/c afterward, and that was that.  Tried to do it once recently but I'm kind of big and we couldn't figure out how to maneuver in such a way that I wasn't smushing him, smushing the baby, or looking like a cow.  (It was just like that scene in Knocked Up where they try 5 different positions and then give up because she's all pissy LOL)  I guess that's that until baby arrives! 

 BAROO!  I LOVE YOU!  No progesterone help but I thought you should know.

This exactly.  I have no desire to have sex until past the first tri.  I've heard way too many spotting horror stories to risk it anyway.

Keeping the area as free from moisture as possible has been the key for me to avoid irritation.

Thank you all for the info. Thanks for also admitting to not really wanting it. I dont, but I bet DH puts the moves on me, so I figured I would just go with it.

We'll see how the weekend goes.

Progesterone is the pregnancy hormone, so any pregnancy symptoms are made bigger/worse by taking the prog supplement. So that could explain the mood swings. But it could also be a timing thing - as you get further along in your pregnancy, the symptoms change/increase.

Baroo, I'm on the same thing (oral prometrium taken vaginally) but haven't had any side effects yet. However, my pantiliner really IS like the ghostbusters scene you mentioned- neon yellow goo.  So glad it's not pink, though!

Thanks Petra, I would have been freaked out if I saw pink. Mine is neonish yellow.

WS--I am glad I am not the only one feeling like Ghostbusters in my pants.

Initially, I was moody but that stopped after a few days.  I am extremely tired but was tired before starting the medicine.  As for the sex question, we haven't been together since we conceived because I have been sooooo tired and I suspect my husband is scared because when we had our loss one of the first things he asked was if we had sex that week.  I am to stay on the meds until 10 weeks and don't plan for sex until after that unless my drive returns.
