strap problem with Cosco Scenera

I have a Britax Marathon in my car.  I've never had any problems with it.  I recently put a Cosco Scenera in my mom's car.  We have a terrible time tightening the straps.  Sometimes both refuse to budge.  Sometimes one will tighten, but the other one will not.  I feel up and down the straps, and nothing seems twisted or stuck.  It's just so frustrating to yank on the strap as hard as I can only to end up with the straps not sufficiently tight.  I end up loosening and tightening over and over again until I can get it tight enough. 

Has anyone had this problem?  Any ideas what's going on and how to fix it?

You do have to pull really hard to tighten. A problem I have a lot is that one side will be really tight and the other side too loose. To fix that, you have to pull on the tight side- at the bottom near the butt, not the top by the shoulders. You can even them out that way.

But yeah, you do have to yank the hell out of it to tighten

The problem is that it is one long strap and not two seperate strap. When you pull the strap in the middle it pulls one side tight. When you have your LO in the carseat you need to pull the opposite strap tight so that all the slack is on the other strap then when you pull the strap in the middle, it will tighten that side. Hope that makes sense.

I tighten mine by reaching behind the seat and pulling it by the metal strap clip (the T looking thing you take the straps off of to rethread/adjust them), Once the slack is all behind the seat, THEN I pull the adjuster strap tight.

Yes, we had the exact same problem.  That is why the car seat is in the garbage and as much as it sucked, we bought another Marathon.  That seat is a piece of junk.  I am sorry I wasted the $50 on it!
