I know kids/toddlers can only go in and out of the car so much but I'm wondering if Jack just doesn't have the tolerance others do. It seems like I can get maybe 3 done before he's just done and we have to go home. I've been wanting to go to the book store for weeks now but I just can't seem to go. After groceries, a shopping trip and usually something else he's done and wants home or the playground. Feeding or letting him play somewhere doesn't seem to make much of a difference lately. He's just done. Also he doesn't nap at home but naps fine at daycare.
I know it shouldn't make a difference but he hasn't napped at home since he was almost a year old but I guess it does?
Re: How many errands do you get out of your kids?
3-4 is about our max too...I can do more, but he starts to get whiny and ask for everything he can see in the store - super annoying!
He hates getting in/out of the car for errands, so I either try to keep them all in the same shopping center and walk (no matter how far) or leave him at home if I have multiple stores to hit up. On days where we have a lot of errands to run, I try to pack a picnic for us and go to a playground for lunch to let him get a little energy out. If I'm desperate to get things done, I can usually get a couple more stores in after that.
I don't think I've ever had more than two or three errands in a single week, let alone in one day. That said, Layna would probably be good for two or three stops.
Layna stopped napping around age 2 but she still needs some downtime in the middle of the day. If we're out all morning, then we'll head home around noon-ish for lunch and some lazy time.
I'd die. I frequently have to run to the bank, post office, Natural Grocer's, and then HEB on my way home from the gym. All of those are out in Cedar Park, so I hate having to make an extra trip out there.
I save all that for preschool days now. Last time I brought them both to the post office they destroyed the card section in the two seconds I turned around to search for a pen in my bag. It was mortifying and also difficult to clean up. My kids are heathens. But - only when they're together. When I have just one they're like little angels. Maybe that's the trick.
This is us. If I can I will walk all over God and Country to not have to get them back in the car. I try to lump things together as much as I can or do them on my way home from work when I am without the kiddos.
Married and it feels so good!
With one kid, I can probably get three stops in. With both kids? One stop and it's usually the grocery store.
Yeah, I think your kid is normal.
LOL.
I can get a few. I don't like doing more than 2-3 at a time. Makes my head hurt and my kid's a maniac.
I'm with the PP - we can do 1-2 before we have to head home. If it includes grocery shopping, that's all they can handle for the morning before lunch and quiet time.
Really, it's kind of boring to shop. I'd rather be at the playground too
Depends on whether or not cheeseburgers are involved.
i love you. this is us frequently
