So, DS still uses a sleep sack, only because I don't think he would stay under a blanket at night. I've noticed in the last couple of months he, at least, stays on the same end of his crib all night about 85% of the time, but anytime I've put a blanket on him (on top of the sleep sack), it's off after a few rolls.
There's only one brand of sleep sack that still fits him and in a few short months, he's going to be too long for it.
Tell me how this whole blanket thing works, please!
Re: getting your child to stay under a blanket while sleeping?
I have mad sewing skills. If he can't stay under a blanket, I can take the ones you have, add some fleece/fabric to the bottom and make it fit you if you want
Other than the cost of the fabric, I'll only ask that you come over here and keep my kids from ransacking the place while I sew.
Haha, that made me laugh....because I'm 6 feet tall and that's a lotta fabric! I appreciate your kind offer!
My mom can sew well, too, so I could always get her to make some. I just wondered if I was missing something. Do most kids his age still need a sleep sack? Or do they use a blanket? I'm not stressing about it from a can he/can't he standpoint, just wondering if I needed to do something differently to help him learn how, or if is just something kids "get" at some point?
Abby was in the sleep sack (and crib) until she was 3. After that, she still kind of sucked about staying under the covers but she didn't seem to care. We just used Fleece Jammies (2 piece because she was potty trained) even during the summer so I could feel like she was warm enough.
Yes, eventually he'll develop the tiny little maneuvers we all instinctively do that allows us to turn under the covers without uncovering ourselves! Keep in mind that most people use a top sheet under their blanket that facilitates this. Sleeping in fleece jammies and a fleece blanket for example, is kinda difficult! Personally, I started sleeping so much better as an adult when I started sleeping nekkid
This is what we do too.
