Another convertible crib?

Hi ladies!

New to this board, expecting DS #2 in June!  I need your input on this, DS #1 has a convertible crib - he is still in the crib at this stage, but probably will be in toddler bed by the time #2 arrives.

My question is, should I buy another convertible crib or just pass this crib onto the next babe and get DS #1 a toddler bed?

    Wow.  Wish I had the answer, but thought I'd chime in because my little boy is almost exactly the same age as yours and DS #2 is coming in June here too!!  Anyway, we have had many, many discussions about this and I have been reading and asking everyone everywhere this very question.... we have decided to go ahead and invest in another convertible crib, but we aren't spending quite as much money as we did on DS #1's bedroom set.... we went a little overboard and spent over $2000 and well, that just isn't happening again.  That said, DS#1 will probably still be in his crib for a while, and that was our determining factor.  Initially, we thought we'd just move him to a bed in a new room and leave the nursery as is for DS #2, but I don't want to rush him to be a big boy when he really is sleeping wonderfully in his crib and he loves his room.  Anyway, I hope all goes well with your little guys!

    DS1 was almost 17 mths when ds2 was born. We didn't want to invest in another crib, but didn't want to rush it. We bought a toddler bed and put it in the nursery where the crib would go. We then let ds1 explore it himself for a while until He became comfortable with it. We switched him to the toddler bed around 15 mths old and he was fine. We wanted to make sure to switch it soon enough so he wouldn think DS2 was taking his place. We had no Problems at all!If you look at the large pic, I would rather get a bed I know we will use instead of a crib for another couple months only to turn around and spend more $$ right away.

    We just bought a second convertible (exact same one DD1 has). This way, when they get a little older and are sharing a room (we'd like to reclaim our office/guest room one day) their beds will match.

    If #2 is the same sex as #1, or if you want them to room together eventually, you may want to consider matching convertible cribs.
