Hot water bottles?

Do you ever use these with your child? Or did you use them when they were younger? In what situations?

I keep seeing kiddie-themed hot water bottle covers at all the Parisian pharmacies- Hello Kitty, Sponge Bob, etc.- and cannot for the life of me figure out why every French child is supposed to have a hot water bottle. I've only ever used them myself for menstrual cramps or bad back pain (two afflictions DD has thankfully never had).

Nope, we don't use them.  I'm curious to know what a kid would need one for.
