Hey Experienced MOM's... I'm totally a lurker on this board (29w2d) and am pregnant with two boys.
For the vast majority of my pregnancy both babies were head down, in perfect, happy positions... the've both flipped twice (on the same day each time i think) and at my 28 week ultrasound they were both breech (which i knew just from feeling their flips) and have been since 24 weeks. I'm doing everything I can think of to help Baby A flip from Webster Technique Chiropractic, to moxibustion, to downward dogs and cat/cow positions during the day.
Does anyone have experience with flipping their twins (baby a, specifically?) I want so dearly to have a vaginal delivery (I would definitely try for a natural delivery if we were having a singleton) and will do everything in my power to help him flip over, while also trying to come to terms with having a c-section if needed. Any stories, advice or wisdom anyone has to offer would be greatly appreciated! If you DID have success flipping, how far along were you when they flipped? I'm starting to feel like it's too late, even though my OB said they can flip until 32 weeks or so.
Re: Flipping Baby A
I don't have experience with flipping twins, but I'm doing things to help encourage them to be head down, because like you, I reallllly want a vaginal delivery and all my OB requires is for A to be vertex.
Sit on a physio (exercise) ball whenever possible instead of in a chair.
DON'T recline! Lay on your side or sit straight up.
Have you checked out spinningbabies.com?
Have you tried acupuncture?
Good luck!!
I have checked spinning babies and do the inversion on occasion but find the remianing advice on the site to be really difficult to navigate. It's not very easy to do (i get out of breath big time and the blood rushing to my head isn't very welcome) but I try my best to hang out there for a reasonable amount of time. Moxibustion (or moxie/moxa) is what the acupuncturist is doing to help him spin. It's kind of hard for me to wrap my mind around (it involves burning mugwort close to my pinky toes..) the effectiveness.
Sitting is a different story. I started working from home a few weeks agoand don't typically sit at desk these days. i know i need to break out the exercise ball, but i can't imagine sitting for the last few hours of the evening straight up OR on the exercise ball... and on the couch is where the boys flipped the last two time, so I feel like couch time isn't such a bad thing.
I did everything on spinning babies. I did Webster. I went too late for Moxi. I did hot/cold. I did it A L L.
At 35 1/2 weeks baby b turned cephalic. Baby A stayed breech. I was planning on a breech/breech vaginal delivery, but baby B turning changed our plans. So your OB wasn't really right....many twins turn up until the bitter end...ever baby A. My baby A was just frank breech and her butt was stuck there.
C-section sucked but hey I have 2 great kids. Trust me - I deliver babies all day -- I really really really wanted a vaginal delivery. Oh well - there's always VBAC.
