How often do you replace bath toys?

Like rubber ducks ... Anything that can have water seep in? Because of mold and things? I took the faucet cover off the other day and it had mold on it.. Ew!

Thanks!

  • I have been wondering the EXACT same thing! It seems like the perfect breeding place for mold/mildew inside the rubber toys that have the hole where you can squeeze water out of... If you don't get all the water out, and it is in a warm bathroom, just seems inevitable it would get gross inside. Hadley sucks on them (she loves the air squirting in her mouth) and it just seems troublesome. This coming from a mom who is anti-germaphobe.

  • I ditched all the toys with holes in it- simple as that. It's not worth the hasle.

All of our bath toys are now foam bath letters, Disney princess plastic figures, and sharks and dolphins from Wild Republic

No holes- so the water can't get in them.

Yup, us too. Ian got a bunch of little squirt toys for his first Christmas, but the fact that he liked to chew on them grossed me out after a few months. Now we just have boats, strainers, and other easy to clean toys. His favorite thing for the bath is a bubble machine. We use it at least once a week, and he LOVES that.

  • Ugh, I battled with trying to clean and eventually throwing away bath toys for years when Emily was an infant/toddler. So much money wasted! I finally found some sea animal sets at BRU/TRU a few summers ago that DON'T take in water, they aren't squirters! I think they were on the main "beach toys" aisle and they are small... they fit in the palm of your hand.

I clean them in the dishwasher, on the top rack, in a Munchkin diswasher basket once a week.

    Hope this helps! ;)
