DS turns 4 next month and I think we'd like to get him some sort of handheld game device, something like a LeapFrog. Does anyone have any recommendations for some good ones that are fun and easy enough for LOs? TIA!
My kids (3 & 4) love their V-Tech Innotab & i can't say enough about it. It stands out from the rest, IMO, b/c u can download videos/movies/songs/pics to it, which my kids love & is great for long car rides, etc.
We also have the Fisher Price iXP, and they like that too for educational games.
DS has the mobigo and loves it. The games are not too expensive and there is a good variety for the 3-5 year olds. It's also sturdy (doesn't break easily if dropped)
DS has a tag reader that I really like and got a Leapster Explorer for x-mas which he doesn't play nearly as much as I thought he would. I really like the tag, he "reads' books to himself and listens to the stories in his bed.
Some of the things in the Leapster games are a little too advanced (number sequencing) so we have to help him but as he gets older I can see it being more fun.
My DD loves her leapfrog Tablet! Very sturdy if she drops it. She has finally left my iphone alone
You can also download, or buy games. buying the games are a bit expensive ($20 but they usually have 5 or 6 games within the cartridge). You can download mini games or books and videos for around $5-$10. She can also take pictures which she loves to do. My LO is 4.5

For Christmas, I had gotten my DS a Leapster 2 and he just loves it. I would recommend that, or even the latest Leapster Explorer as you can get one of those $20 cards to download other games to it from the internet.
DS has the tag, a leapster 2, and the innotab. Of the three, the leapster 2 sits around the most. He loves the tag and the innotab. I'm most impressed with the innotab personally, it was a lifesaver on our recent trip to Hawaii (a 6 hr. flight)!
