Very excellent photographer.  She provides all pics digitally on high resolution dvd with copy rights. This is pretty much all I need.

Our newborn photographer charges $250 for a session then you can buy packages for everything or pay a la carte. You have to buy a package to get a CD with rights.

Also, do they normally do baby sessions?

Yes, she have done family portraits.

For my area that seems very reasonable and the going rate or a little cheaper!

Seems very reasonable to me. We are doing a "mini session" with a great local photographer and she charges $150, and that only includes a disc with 8-10 images. Her normal sessions are $500 including the disc with rights.

^^^ this... but, DH bought me a new camera and I've been taking all of B's pictures myself since she was 1 month old because I'm super cheap.  my friend that does do photography for us when we need it has spoiled us, she doesn't charge us a thing and and only charged us $200 for our wedding 3 years ago.  I have heard of much higher prices though, so maybe that's a good deal?

DD's newborn shoot alone was $450.00 and that was already a 25% discount. $600 is fabulous for around here.

Sounds crazy to me! But we went to picture people and it was $150 for 12 prints (any size) and a low-res CD w/ watermark and no session fee. They were great so I never intend to go anywhere else and pay any more LOL.
