PF school experts

Because DD's school failed a section of the state tests I have the option of transferring her to another school. This is perfect because I had wanted to move her in the next year or two because I do NOT like the middle school she feeds into. There is a slight chance I will leave her at her current school. Her 1st grade teacher is thinking she is going to transfer to 4th grade. If this happens I will probably want to leave her there to stay with that teacher. She's DD's favorite teacher and will be "the" teacher she remembers. If that doesn't pan out I need advice on other schools. I think I would prefer schools that feed into Hendrickson High School. What schools have you heard good things about? These are the schools that are NOT an option:

Caldwell Elementary
Highland Park Elementary
Murchison Elementary
Riojas Elementary
Rowe Lane Elementary
Spring Hill Elementary
Wieland Elementary
Windermere Elementary
Windermere Primary

Most of the ones I like are on that list :-/ Have you looked at Timmerman? I actually went there as a kid and it still gets great rankings and a lot of the teachers are wonderful. I also really like the staff at Pflugerville Elementary.

I know three of the schools I liked are on the list. I'll look in PF elementary because I have heard good things about that school too. I just have to check the middle school. I'm trying to avoid Dessau MS.

I'd help but can't - the one I go to is on your list, as well as one that I know some people at.

 

But I wanted to ask -- are you sure that just because you transfer in Elementary that they will let you stay in the transferred middle school and high school zones?  I know I'm zoned to the same middle and high school as you and am definitely curious.

Yes, once you transfer you are allowed to follow the MS and HS for the ES you go to. Where can I find the information on which ES goes to which MS and HS? I must be missing it somehow.

PES feeds into PMS and Parkcrest, as does Timmerman. PMS goes to PHS and Parkcrest is split between PHS and Hendrickson.

Id check if they'll actually let you transfer to that middle or high school. I know Kelly Lane and Hendrickson aren't taking transfers. They're full!

I don't know if it's listed. It's done by zoned which is on the PISD website. I kinda know what feeds where since I grew up and worked in the district.

Crap, I know the website once said once you are approved for the transfer you stay in that school's MS/HS track. Now it says 2010-11 transfers stay on track, 2011-12 have to reapply after 5th and 8th and doesn't mention what the policy will be for 2012-13. The whole point of having her transfer now is so that she has a couple years in elementary to make friends in a smaller setting than starting as a new student in Middle School.

And when in the hell did my baby get old enough to be two years away from middle school? She's too little to be in a big school like that!

I've subbed at both Timmerman & Pf and must say I would highly recommend Timmerman!!!! GREAT teachers & staff there. Good Luck.

Ditto this. I will also say that I've subbed at most of the middle and high schools that those schools feed into and I'm not a fan

 I agree with you. In Pf, the best choice is definitely Kelly Lane & Hendrickson.
