We tried them, but they really are too big for newborns...it doesn't swaddle them tight enough. DD is about 7.5 lbs. We instead use the Summer swaddles that velcro, allowing us to get it super tight around her. She is a fussy baby, so it can never be too tight! She loves being swaddled! She'll often cry thru the process of swaddling, but the instant that it's done & you pick her up she's good to go! Hopefully we'll use the swaddle pods when she gets bigger & they are tighter on her.
We used it on DS and he did great in it. I think the weight rec is from 8-10 lbs maybe. Anyway, he is now over 11 lbs so I am using the Summer Infant Swaddle with velcro and that works well too. I had no complaints about the pod.

We use them and have been for about a month. DS was 9 lbs at birth. I was tired of him wiggling out of the swaddle and fussing with it at night. He stretched one of them out alot with all the wiggling, so we actually swaddle tightly with the aden and anias blankets and put the swaddle pod over it and that is the only combo that he can't escape from. He is quite the Houdini, but he will stay in the combo all night long.

I looked at the Swaddle Pod, but I think it swaddles the legs too tightly. An infant's legs need to be able to fall to the sides in a frog leg position. Having the knees pulled together for long periods of time can cause hip displasia. I use the SwaddleMe sometimes, but prefer the Halo Sleep Sack with the swaddle option. Margo's arms stay tightly swaddled, but her legs are loose.
