i think we started around 5 months and she had rice cereal first. i waited until she was comfortable sitting supported and could eat in her high chair. after maybe a month? we moved onto purees and then slowly started introducing finger foods in addition to her purees. she ate only a little in the beginning but over time you'll be amazed at how much they start eating!
We started baby led weaning at 6.5 months. First foods included watermelon, avocado, bananas, sweet potatoes and anything else we were eating that he wanted
with DD we started rice cereal sporadically at 5 months and moved onto purees around 6 months.
with DS we started at 4.5 months with oatmeal and move pretty quickly to purees. he was really into eating. we started some finger foods around 6.5/7 months because he loves to be able to feed himself. finger foods like mashed bananas, avocado, beans, mashed potatoes, and similiar soft stuff i think he can handle.

Ditto this exactly. We started slowly and she honestly wasn't really interested until closer to 8 months. Baked sweet potatoes cut like fries were her favorite. The only pur?es she would eat were the ones in the squeeze pouches she could hold and feed herself.

We started BLW at about 5.5m. He eats lunch at daycare every day and dinner at home when I have something cooked but not always (we get home at 6:15, bedtime starts at 7, unless it was in the crockpot, we don't eat until after bedtime). His current list of foods right now include bell peppers (raw and cooked), zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, apples, grapes, chicken (with spices but no salt), bananas, avocado and cauliflower. He tried broccoli but didn't like it. I keep trying.
He has also eaten roasted garlic hummus, string cheese (before we eliminated dairy.. but he LOVED it), amberjack fish and even a grilled onion slice from our fajitas. That one he was a little iffy about, but he sucked the crap out of it and even swallowed some pieces.
we waited until 6-months, a week or two before his 6-month birthday he
started taking more interest in food and i thought about going ahead and
starting solids but I figured I'd just wait until after his 6-month
pedi appt at that point. sweet potato was his first food then we tried avocado (which turned out to be a huge fail until more recently). he was also a big fan of butternut squash right away.
