I'm sorry I haven't updated. We came home from the hospital on Monday afternoon and discovered our furnace had died. We had to pack everything up and go to my Mom's house. We have been there ever since. They are installing our new furnace today. So not what I wanted to do this week!
So on 2/14 I had my 39 week appt. I had decided that would be the decision making day. If I was still at 0 progress, I was scheduling my c/s with the hope that I might still go on my own in the meantime. There was no progress at all. None. I was a little disappointed but not too shocked. I scheduled the c/s based on the OB schedule so the same doc that did my c/s with Kennedy would do this one. It was set for Friday! I was not expecting it to be that quick but was glad to have a date set.
DH and I had to be at the hospital at 3pm on Friday so we took DD1 to daycare that morning and went to have a big breakfast at Bob Evan's. I was allowed to eat up until 8 hours before surgery which was set for 5:30pm. We went home and finished a few last ninute things and were on our way.
I got there and set up in pre-op. During monitoring the nurse caught a hint of an intermittent arrhythmia on the baby. This was news to us. I was also having a lot of strong BHs which we attributed to not having had anything to drink for the last 8 hours. No big deal. She also said sometimes babies have this in the first few days and it goes away. DD1 had a heart murmur that was gone by day 3 which is also fairly common according to the docs.
We ended up going back early due to having a slow day in the OR. We got started around 5pm. I hated my anesthesiologist. Hated. He sucked. My epi went up, I lost my feeling in my arms. He gave me something to "relax" me in the beginning and I was kind of out of it. I hated how I felt the entire time, which was so opposite of last time.
My OB got in and said she needed to page the resident because she needed help. She then told me I had severe scarring from the last c/s and it was going to be a while. She was very surprised that I had only had one previous section. She at the end told me I should strongly consider being done due to the amount of scarring. She also said I could have been pregnant 10 more years and never went into labor on my own. At least that made me feel good regarding my decision to jump ship on VBAC.
After about 40 minutes, They got into my ute and pulled her out. She was screaming which was good, because she looked purple. She is much darker than her sister and covered in all the nastiness she just looked different which scared me. The OB then said it was going to be a long while to get me cleaned up the rest of the way. It ended up taking a little over 2 hours start to finish with 2 surgeons when it should have only been 45 minutes with 1. I hate my body and was likely done TTC anyway, but honestly, why can't these decisions ever be made up to us? "AL" is such a PITA sometimes.
Korinne Sophia weighed 7lbs 10.9oz and was 20.25in at birth. She was tongue tied pretty badly. She still has irregular heart beat. We got her tongue clipped on Sunday but had feeding issues prior to that so I had to syringe feed her some to try to help out. She is slightly jaundice and lost 9.5% of her weight when we left the hospital. Since her tongue was clipped the day before and she has the right amount of dirty/wet they let us go home. We are following up with Cardiology at Children's Hospital tomorrow to check her heart out and pedi today for her NB check. Everyone seems to think her EKG was ok and she will likely grow out of this, but I will feel better once the cardiologist says that. T&P for good news, please?
Here is the link to the web nursery pics. She looks just like her big sister.
