Help with dirty stroller wheels??

Does anyone have a good way to easily clean stroller wheels? We don't have a mudroom or much of any entryway so the stroller needs to be kept in the living room, but in the winter it's getting full of ice and worst - salt from the sidewalks. I'm worried about what we are going to do when we have a mobile baby. Any tips? Thanks!

  • Will it fit in the bathtub? I used to put mine in the bathtub before we moved to a place with a storage room. I'd fill up a pitcher with hot water and pour it over the wheels to rinse off mud, snow and salt. For our big stroller/bike trailer, I did that outside. After doing either thing, I'd lay down a towel and put the stroller on it to dry.

  • It's a double stroller so I can't even get it to the bathroom without dragging it around the house. But maybe rinsing the wheels outside would be possible. Although the logistics of getting the babies inside, getting the water, etc are a bit overwhelming.
  • We used to stop on the front mat, and use Clorox wipes after coming inside (last year).  This year we cleared a spot in the garage...and it's much nicer to just roll it out there.

  • I boiled some water and got and old tooth brush and took the stroller out in the the garage on an unseasonably warm day .  I poured the water over the wheels and scrubbed the wheels with some dish soap and the toothbrush.

This. We used to live in a tiny place and had to keep the stroller inside (condos). I also put the stroller on a boot mat (the kind with edges) in the front coat closet so it wouldn't drip on the floor and T wouldn't play with it. And yes, it was a double Graco, I had a dayhome at the time.
