Spray Tan

Forgive me if someone has asked this, but I am getting mixed reviews. I suppose I could ask my doctor, but wondering if you ladies know any info. Spray tanning. Is it safe for baby? I was going to go for a session or 2, but did not want to be "that pregnant person" who shows up to a salon and everyone side eyes me. Have any of you spray tanned while pregnant?

Re: Spray Tan

  • I actually do not know much about this but I do remember going spray tanning last year for a wedding I was in and there was a sign stating "if you are pregnant you must wear nose plugs."  I would def. speak to the doctor about this or call the place and ask them what kind of chemicals they use etc....

Best of luck I would love a spray tan right about now being all pale and pasty LOL

  • My Dr said it was fine.  I've had about 3 spray tans this pregnancy and plan on getting more and I had a few with my last one too and DS turned out just fine :)

  • I asked my ob about this last pregnancy and she said not to get spray tanned becasue you may inhale the fumes. She said apply the lotion type of self tanner its much safer, and of course, only in moderation.
  • There was just a huge discussion about this on the first trimester board not to long ago. The general consensus was that it is not safe to do due to the chemicals. The chemicals that are used are not very well regulated and there really is no way to tell if it will affect the baby or not. Since they do not know, I would stay far away from it, but that is just me.
  • Hey there! It's perfectly safe (and the only one that I know is safe) to use the VersaSpa when you're pregnant. It is a sugarcane/protein base that adsorbs into your skin, but it never even penetrates past the top layer so it doesn't even get near the baby. And even if it did, its still naturally occurring & water soluble. As far as the fumes, its still all natural! You'd do more damage to your baby walking out to your car in this polluted environment! Hopefully they have the versaspa near you.
  • I was told where I go it is water base and safe. I'm getting one tonight actually.
