Hi again - thanks for everyone's honest feedback. My son will not be named Brecken, I promise! In my other post - I said Logan was another name we were considering but it is SO popular that I really want to think of something else.
Our last name is pronounced may-der (spelled differently) so anything ending in -er is out (I hate the double "er"). We also have to be careful as some names can turn into something different when you put them with our last name. (I LOVED Anna for a girl, but if you said her name fast, it would have sounded like animator!) We always joke and tell people that we are going to name our son Darth (say it with our last name, then laugh with me).
So anyway, in all honesty, anything ending in -an, -en, -in or -on seems to flow the best with our last name. Middle name is non-negotiable (James after my father). Got any suggestions for me?
Re: -en, -on, -in, -an ending boy names?
Tow Mayder? Ha ha, had to go there. Cars is on at my house 24/7 these days.
I'm partial to Evan. I also like Nathan, Benjamin, and Logan.
How about Andrew? Andrew James Mayder sounds great.
I think there are some that would be fine. Have you tried nymbler.com?
Yes! thanks to cars, we get this suggestion all the time.
That being said - tom and tim are out as well
LOVE andrew, but H coaches hockey and had an Andrew that was an absolute nightmare, so he vetoed that name (even though he did like it).
Your other suggestions are so funny in relation to my life. Evan is my bosses's newborn son's name. and I work with a Nathan and a Benjamin - both who are so full of themselves that they would think I named my baby after them
Cooper and Ellie
Ethan, Gavin, Brandon/Brendan, Jason
Other names that may sound good are: Garrett, Elias/Elijah (nn Eli), Caleb, Wesley, Samuel
Benjamin
Aaron

Kellen? Mason?
Aiden James
Damien James
Kaden James
Aaron James
Carson James
Dillion James
Sean James
Honestly, unless you are going to keep crossing paths with the nightmare Andrew, I would use it anyhow if you both really love it. Once you have your own baby, any thoughts of someone else with the same name pretty much go out the window. Unless the name is something like Hitler, it truly becomes your child's own name very quickly. I bet you wouldn't give nightmare Andrew a fleeting thought again.
Just my two cents.
