15 weeks measuring large

Please forgive me as you I am sure you get these posts all the time. 

Saw my Dr. this morning and she mentioned that I was measuring large. Like 18 weeks large but I'm 15 weeks 5 days.  She asked me if I had an ultra sound yet and I told her yes and that there was only 1 baby when we had the ultra sound at 9 weeks. After telling her that she didn't seem to press the issue any further.I also have been feeling the baby move since about 13 weeks. (this is my 3rd baby)

What I am wondering is how many of you had an early ultra sound and then later found out at your 20 week you were having twins?

    I had my first u/s at 18 or 19 weeks and that's when we found out we were having twins- my Dr. never suspected anything different up until that point as far as me being "bigger" than normal, mind you this was my 1st pregnancy.

    I'd have to agree with pp, it should of been very clear at your 9 week u/s if there were more than one baby in there.

    My OB likes to scare me (jokingly) with his story of a triplet that was discovered at birth! That being said, we found our twins at 9 weeks, and he has assured me time and time again, that it's way too hard for anyone to hide at 9 weeks. I think it's safe to say you just have 1 in there.... =)

    My twins were very obvious from 5w4d onward.  Keep in mind that fundal height measurements are totally subjective.  They can be totally different based on the person doing the measuring, baby's position, if you've eaten anything, if you've had a bowel movement etc.  They are not an accurate measurement in and of themselves.

    My doctor never even did fundal height measurements until I was 20 weeks with my previous two pregnancies.  I had my first ultrasound at 5w4d and it was very obvious how many were in there.

    At my 5w 4d U/S they missed one of the triplets but then at 6w 4d U/S they found him / her. I would guess measuring a little over 2 weeks ahead is large but not unheard of. Good luck

    measuring 3w ahead is not much at all. I always measured ahead with DS1. He was big. He was born 4w early and was 7lb 4oz. 

    your doc is an idiot to suggest it might be twins just b/c of that... my doc always told me how fundal height is very inaccurate - all depends on how the baby is positioned, etc... women carry differently - so it's inaccurate to say X = X weeks. 

    I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

    There were 2 or 3 ladies on here I believe that said that had a quick early ultrasound to look for the heart beat and then were shocked to see twins at a later appointment. I measured ahead & my doc never paid attention/cared and then found out it was twins at my first ultrasound at 19 1/2 weeks.

    It isn't impossible :)
