Always a sufferer or some sort of depression/anxiety, I feel pregnancy is making it worse. I never liked antidepressants. The only one I could tolerate was prozac and while it helped my overall mood, it made it even HARDER to get out of bed. I was missing a lot of work and almost lost my job so I had to stop.
I am always exhausted and tired and all I ever want to do is sleep. Most say, "oh! that's a sign of depression!" Well, if it is, how come the meds that treat my depression make me more exhausted?
I feel stuck and know because of my past I am at high risk for PPD which scared the crap out of me. Any advice?
Re: Pregnancy Depression
Sorry your feeling that way. I was stuggling with depression with this pregnancy too and it left me guilty because this is supposed to be a happy time in our lives.
Wishing you well!
I am sorry that you are feeling like this. I too have a history of depression and now PPD with both my boys. Knowing what to look out for and being prepared as well as having your SO and family aware of the signs is a good start to looking out for PPD. With my most recent pregnancy I started to develop depresssion around the 18 week mark, and was put on zoloft.
A lot of anitdepressants will make you feel tired in the beginning and unfortunatley is a hit or miss kind of deal as how you will react to them. add on that being pregnant which cuts down on the types of antidepressants you can take. hopefully you and your doctor can find something that works for you and helps you stay awake. Good luck
