Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Where to put baby....

When you have them in a toddler bed and you are taking a shower?  I will be getting a toddler bed soon and my husband leaves to work before I do and normally the baby is sleeping, but sometimes not and when she is awake I leave her in her crib.  Where do you put her when you are taking a shower and no one else is home?

Re: Where to put baby....

  • I get ready for work every day by myself with DS.  I usually pull the pack and play where I can see him.  BUT on Saturday, he realized how easy it is to climb out.

  • I bring her in the shower, or I put her in the exersaucer. She's too big for the excersaucer,, but at least I know she can't get out of it.

You could also put your LO in a PNP.

Our DD is too big for the exesaucer too, but we were putting her in it for a looooong time too, bc there was no where else to put her that I know she'd stay put. About a month ago, she was 5 lbs over the limit and we got rid of it.

Now we just put her on our bed (which we can see from the shower). We put on an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and I shower/get ready fast. The show is 25 min and that's all I get.

  • I would take a shower at night then.

I so wish I could do this but I can't see our bed!

  • I don't know how old your LO is, but at 2, DS is able to be alone long enough while I'm in the shower, in a contained environment.

I lock our bedroom door, move anything I think he may get into (unplug our fan b/c otherwise he likes to turn it on) and l leave the bathroom door (connected to our bedroom) open.  I can peek out and see what he's doing, but he's pretty self-sufficient.

Most times, I'll also turn on the TV to Nick Jr. and put him in our bed.  But, he doesn't always watch TV the whole time.

  • I don't know how your LO is. Generally, if he is up when I shower I put him in the high chair with the tv on (I know...tv as a babysitter is bad!). I take about 10 minute showers so it isn't long and he is content. When I am getting ready he kinda just hangs out with me. The bathroom is right next to his room so I can keep the bathroom door open while I blowdry my hair and he will play with his train table. On occassion he will be in the bathroom with me. He loves to wash his hands and "brush his teeth" so I will put the water on very low and he manages to keep him busy for the 10 minutes and I can see him.
