D.C. Area Babies

Sigh - it's hard to be a working mom

LO is sick... again. And even my very patient, understanding, supportive boss was kind of like "Really, again?"

DH and I usually split up days, so I go in to work in the morning, and he works in the afternoon, but there are days when that doesn't work as well.

I am way behind on a couple of tasks, and all of this time away isn't helping. And it's hard to get work done at home because LO is really clingy when he's sick.

That said, at least it's not an ear infection this time, and  I hope he gets better soon.

This cold/flu season can't end soon enough for me!

  • I sympathize. DS was out of daycare for two days two weeks ago with a stomach bug and came down with something completely new on Sunday. I feel torn when I have to weigh options for going into work or staying home with a sick little one.

  • Left Hug I hear ya.  DS has a cold and looked so sad this morning, but no fever so off to DCP he went :(  At least he smiled when he saw DCP and his friends.

  • I agree. The worst part for us has been how sick DH and I get. The LOs get a cold for a day or two, but then DH and I get their illnesses, and we're down for a week. I'm working on the stomach flu for the second time in a month. Dislike.
  • I am right there with you! My DD has a double ear infection and I'm off work today as well. Our family has been plagued with sicknesses during the past 2 months and I am ready for winter to be over with.

Oh yes, totally agree with this. I'm on my 4th month of walking pneumonia. UGH.

Same with DH and I and we never used to get sick!  I am so ready for the cold season to be over!

  • Do you have family in the area? We got so desperate once that we had family lined up if J wasn't feeling better enough to go back to daycare.

That first year sucks! They're just bombarded with germs. I promise the second year is waaaay better.

  • Ugh, that sucks. Can you enlist your family to help? I think you have family in the area, right?

  • I totally hear you.

We used to be able to leave our LOs with my parents on days when they were sick enough to be out of daycare, but my dad has had some health problems and he catches my kids' illnesses so fast and furious, it's not really fair to him to do that anymore.  So lots more sick days taken from work for us - with three kids - it seems like about every other week someone is sick.

At least now I have some leave built up at work, and start taking my turn.

  • Just wanted to send you belated hugs.  We've all been there.
