How to get crime info?

By doing our nightly walk around the neighborhood we have stumbled across 2 robberies in our little neighborhood over the past month. (cops were parked at houses, taking the reports)

(And let me freak my little freak here right now: OMGOSH!  The last one was this week and just 6 doors down -- they broke in the front door and took SO MUCH!  And this was at the house at the neighborhood entrance, so it seems so darn bold b/c surely someone would have seen?!???)

Anyway, I tried looking around the APD website and google and I'd like to get stats of any other robberies going on in my neighborhood but can't figure out how to get any info.  I saw one map on a real estate site but it didn't have listed either of the 2 robberies I know about, so that it lists nothing doesn't have me very confident in the map's accuracy.

Help?

It might take a little while for the map to be updated maybe? There should be something available through the neighborhood association or sherrif's office. I also wanted to add the houses near entrances or exit are more at risk because it's easy in and out compared to a house that requires a lot of turns into the neighborhood.

  • You're right, I probably should call the HOA  to see what info they have.

And yeah, I figured ones near the entrances were more at risk, but I wouldn't expect it to be the one that everyone stares at while they enter.   our neighborhood really is very small -- just a 1/2-mile loop -- so everything is really close to the entrances.

Really the only time I've wished for a big loud dog!

  • This CrimeSearch website gives some info, but I thought there was a better one. Dallas has a much better mapping system, IMO.

ETA: I also found this by the fire department. And Krimelab is supposed to be a better version of the city's map. Lastly, there is SpotCrime, which seems pretty good.

Thanks so much!  That CrimeSearch website was awesome in that it had both robberies I knew about as well as a graffiti incident I noticed recently!

Just noticed your edited websites so I'll check those out too.
