We went for our 9 month well baby check up yesterday and the dr. said she MAY have an astigmatism. They will check again in 6 months. I was so shocked that I had no idea what to ask and how to react... anyone have any suggestions or expiences before i follow up and take some action....
Re: astigmatism?
As far as I know astigmatism is very normal and common. I have had it my whole life. They make contacts for people with astigmatism. I am just too cheap to buy them.
Totally not a big deal.
Lily born at 27 wks: 2 lbs 4 oz.
Max born at 27 wks: 2 lbs 2 oz.
Glenn born at 31 wks: 3 lbs 9 oz.
My twin's birth story
Neither one of us have it or at least not yet?... no one we have in our family has it... we will wait and see i guess
Astigmatism is the one thing my DD does not have wrong with her eye! I wouldn't worry too much, in the scheme of things, it is pretty minor.
My DD wears glasses (as you can see), and so do two of her little friends (they are 5 months and 7.5 months old), all for different reasons. My DD also wears a contact in one eye due to cataract surgery as a newborn.
Astigmatism is pretty common, and even if she has to wear glasses , lots of younger kids wear them now. And the good news is, it isn't detrimental to her health and it wont really change her quality of life!
I know how hard it is to hear anything may be wrong (no matter what it is), but she will be just fine.
