TTC after 35

Now I know what frequent monitoring means

I posted last week asking about injectables and what monitoring would happen.  That was intense.  I had blood work and ultrasounds Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  Originally they also had me scheduled to go back today but they did give me a few days off from that.  I trigger today and have IUI #2 on Thursday.

I did not do well with the injectables.  I had very bad headaches, nausea, dizziness, and I was so tired.  I also had the worst breakout of my life.  I got sent home from work because I looked so bad.  Sunday at brunch one of my friends told me that if they did not know what was going on, they would be concerned about me.

Today I woke up and everything was back to normal.  The dark circles are gone from my eyes and my skin cleared up.  The headache is almost completely gone.  I don't know why I would suddenly change.

  • Yikes, that's a lot of appointments!  Something to look forward to (not!).  Maybe you're body is just now getting used to the injectibles (just in time to trigger!).  Good luck and I hope you only have to go through this once.

  • That's really intense especially with the side effects. Could they have had you on too high a dose? I've only used injectables for the IVF cycle, but it seems like most people have less side effects on them then on clomid.

Crossing my fingers that this is the last time you have to use them.

  • Hang in there!  I am doing femara and injectibles this cycle for the first time- likely doing IUI.  I have monitoring 4 times this week. Last week, I was on a very high dose of femara and by the 2nd day got major headaches.  I am now on a low dose of gonal f and have a very minimal headache and some nausea.  I am concerned because if I am feeling this bad at such a low dose- I don't think I could tolerate the higher doses my RE says he'd use for IVF.  I guess it is good that I am learning this now.

I was on the lowest dose of the injects.  My body does not respond well to any hormonal changes.  When I was on the pill my body actually fought it and I had to take meds to reduce the side effects of the pill.  The Clomid was actually worse than the injectables.  Luckily I trigger tonight.

Thanks for all of the empathy from all of you.
