DD, who is almost 4 still sleeps with us with no signs of being ready or wanting to move into her own bed. I had DD2 6 days ago and after spending the last three nights with her screaming from 7 AM - 4 PM I finally moved DD1 close to DH and put DD2 in the crook of my arm and laid with her near the mesh bed rail we have. She literally slept for 2.5 hours. So, in this situation what would you ladies do?
We currently have a queen sized bed so we are smooshed so we need to add something into the mix. I have a RNP and an arms reach co sleeper all of which she does not want to be placed in. So I guess our other options would be to buy a twin sized bed to place in our room and then move the bed to DD1's room when she is ready. Buy a king sized bed and get rid of our queen. Or, try and side car a crib which I am hesitant to do since she does not like the co sleeper.
Any suggestions would be great!
Re: Co sleeping advice needed
What about adding a twin bed next to yours? Would that work?
ETA- duh, I saw you mentioned that. Sorry.
that is my only idea.
A king sized bed is never a bad investment, kids or otherwise. Best purchase ever, in our house.
Another idea would be to get a full/queen sized bed for DD1 in her room and have DH sleep with her until she's more used to sleeping on her own. She would probably sleep better without a newborn waking up multiple times a night as well. We have a full sized mattress on the floor for DS and play musical beds a lot.
I agree with all of this! We got a king-size bed when DS1 was about six months old, and it's so so so good for co-sleeping. Will your older daughter transition to her own space in your bedroom sometime? We've had all four of us in our king-size bed once or twice, but it was seriously squished, and DS1 was only three at the time.
And don't give up hope, the new baby might eventually go in the arm's reach in a few weeks/months. hth
