I saw your post below asking about WW. I have been doing it since October and I absolutely love the program. The key for me is going to the meeting *every* week and getting weighed-in every week. The weekly weigh-in really helps with my accountability because I know that there is an "official" weigh-in that gets written on my card and that someone else other than me is going to see it (however, it's not shared with the group). At each meeting, I find that I always get new ideas from the leader and from other members on how to make better choices, make my points go farther and make healthier meals. It's also great to celebrate the successes of other people and yourself and to keep that motivation going. For me, it's like a weekly pep-talk and re-focusing.
As far as how it works, there are two options. One is online only which I think is about $20 a month. With that option, you get access to their online tools but it doesn't include the meetings. Then there's the program with the meetings (which I would highly recommend) and I think that program is about $43/mo. With the meetings program, you get all of the online tools and apps from the online only included in that price.
If you want to sign up, you can either do it online (you will see the two options I listed on the website) or just go into your local center during their business hours and someone will set you up. If you want to sign up right before a meeting, get there 30 minutes early so you have time and won't miss the meeting.
Good luck.
Re: otoro98 re: WW
Thanks so much! I think I'm going to sign up next week. I have an event this weekend that is a "splurge" so I'm waiting until after that's over, but then I'm in. I think there is free registration right now too...bonus!
How are you able to plan, given that you are juggling home life/babies, etc? My fear is "fitting it in" when I'm already juggling work, daughter, household...but I really need to do this. Thanks again!
That sounds like a good plan.
To answer your question, the benefit of WW is that the plan doesn't restrict any specific foods. However, you do have to watch your portions and figure out what foods will give you the most bang for your points and fill you up.
I really don't find it that hard to keep up with while juggling everything. The main thing is that I have to make time for tracking my points (which probably takes 5 min a day total) and I have to be a bit better with meal planning so that I'm not tempted to order take-out or eat something not-so-great when I don't have a meal planned. However, our meals are super simple. For dinner, I usually cook up a meat and then we'll have it with frozen vegetables and maybe couscous or one of those 90 second brown rice packets. I always have frozen meals on hand and about once a week, we just scrounge and DH and DD will eat leftovers and I'll have a frozen meal.
Overall, I think that it's actually benefited my family tremendously. WW is getting me (and thus my family) to eat a lot healthier (many more vegetables) and I am trying new, healthier recipes. Also, you earn points for activity so it's encouraging me to be more active (as in, "let's go for a family walk" on a Saturday rather than watching a movie). We also rarely eat dessert. So, the changes have all been positive.
Go go go! Try it! This is my third time doing WW - first time, lost 50 lbs before my wedding, second time, lost 30 lbs after kid #2, this time, I've lost 30 lbs and have a few more to go before I get to my best weight. I'm like a commercial for WW - Jennifer Hudson ain't got nothin on me.
That's awesome! Way to go!
