Food Allergy

i need snack ideas - dairy and peanut/tree nut allergy

I've run out of ideas for snacks to bring to school with DD.  This is what I currently pack - some combination of the following:

  • fresh fruit
  • hard boiled egg
  • roasted zucchini/yellow squash
  • soy yogurt
  • cut up cucumbers

any other snack ideas would be much appreciated - i don't know why i cant think of anything else.

  • If you don't have any wheat or corn allergies, cereal is good too.  DS loves Rice Chex (he IS allergic to wheat & corn, along with what you mentioned + others!)

Fruit snacks are usually ok too.  Stick with the ones sweetened with fruit juice instead of sugar. Unsweetened applesauce is another goodie.

Crackers are a good munchie too.  DS can't have wheat, so we stick w/ these ones from the health food store that are made from beans.  They are actually really good!!

  • Slices of rice cheese, rice cakes with sunbutter (or just plain)...DS love the apple cinnamon ones.  I coat chick peas in a bit of cinnamon and sugar and bake them in the oven (not too crispy for LO's) and they are yummy.

  • There is a snack mix, kind of like trail mix, made by a company called Not Nuts that is free from the nine most common allergens including peanuts, dairy, wheat, soy, shell fish and others.  Its sold at Whole Foods and comes in a few different flavors.  Also check out Laughing Giraffe (also available at Whole Foods).  Both are super tasty.
