I had to switch OB practices a few months ago and their policy seems a little different from what I'm used to. I called today for the results of my GBS test and the nurses weren't allowed to give it to me, the doctor has to call me back.
The same thing happened with my GTT. The dr called back to let me know I passed. I would understand if they wanted to be the ones to tell you if the results were positive, but they weren't.
It just kind of seems like a waste of the dr's time... Is this normal elsewhere?
Re: Results of GBS test - have to speak to a Dr?
Some places are just more hands on I guess and want to make sure you get any answers to questions you may have.

This.
I called last week to make an extra appointment before we went out of town to be check and asked the nurse the results of my GBS test and she told me.
when I had my GBS I was told I would find out the results at my next appt. Granted that appt was 5 days later due to the timing/availability of the doctor.
However I have found that unless I call, the Dr.s office does not call with results unless there is an issue. Depending on what the test was for, the nurses are sometimes allowed to give results. However the Dr. will call/email to followup to see if there are any questions. So I guess either way the Dr. gets involved.
