Parenting after a Loss

I am insane. Need tips for 2u1

I'm going to start watching a friend's little guy just 2 days per week.  A little money and a BIG kick in the pants to stay organized and moving.  The boys are just 3 weeks apart and L is already walking and is a giant, hulking man-beast of a baby.

Any tips/ideas for activities and staying on top of 2u1?  We live VERY close to a park, so when the weather is nice we'll be outside (she's got an old double stroller I can use).  I don't really plan on getting them out and about much, I think it might be a huge hassle, but any tips appreciated.  I'm getting kind of nervous!

  • You'll manage better than you think.  A baby jail is what saved us.  We have the entire living room gated off, plugs covered, etc.  So the kids have free reign of that room.  We can walk away knowing they can't get hurt.  It's not as bad as you imagine.  :)

Thank you!  I have an area that I trust Isaac in.  However, L is so much bigger and more physical than Isaac. He worries me.  Are your b/g twins similarly mobile or is one ahead of the other?

  • DD was more mobile than DS for 6 weeks right around one year old.  She walked way before he did.  They have several "friends" who are about 6 months older, and they play just fine with them.

It takes some adjustment....but I promise you can do it!

  • Is is funny that I lost track of how old your DS was and thought this was a BFP post?

Seriously though, no advice, but I'm sure you'll do great.

     Good luck!

  • I was a nanny of twins when I was in college and was with the boys from when they were 6w until age 2. They lived near a park so we got into a routine which actually helped. We played at home in the early morning, they had a short morning nap, they woke up and we would walk to starbucks, and on the way home went to the park and played, they spent a lot of time in the swings- both boys were pretty big and i would use one toddler swing at the park and put one facing each way so they were back to back in the swing which made it snug enough for them to be safer in the swing, they LOVED it. I'd also put them on a blanket on the grass with toys etc, tried to keep them away from eating sand etc. We'd spend an hour or so at the park every day, come home and have lunch and then down for a good afternoon nap. Good luck :)
