Hiya ladies,
Most recently we are crushing on the name Vivian. Which spelling do you think is best? I am not sure which would be considered correct or most common. I am not into funky spellings for funky's sake. Which way would you assume that Vivienne is spelled? Which would look best with our last name?
Our last name is like Kingsley.
Thanks!

Diagnosed hypothyroidism.
I like Vivian best. It's not fussy or strained. It's also the most intuitive.
Vivien was a spelling change actress Vivien Leigh made at the suggestion of her agent. It's not a real spelling. She was born Vivian.
Vivienne is silly and overkill, IMO. Unless you have French heritage that you're wanting to honor, I think it's best avoided.

IMO, Vivian and Vivienne aren't the same name or pronounced the same. Vivienne is beautiful but is the French variant. I would pronounce it Vivi-'n' like the letter 'n', whereas Vivian I would pronounce like Vivi-'in'.
So, I would say go with the pronunciation you like best. They're both beautiful names.
Vivien is nms since I hated that everyone always spelled my name wrong growing up (Sara - no 'h').
My sources say otherwise. https://www.behindthename.com/name/vivien-2
OP, I prefer Vivienne. IMO it is the most feminine but I do agree with PP that when spoken I put the emphasis on the second syllable as opposed to Vivian.
I totally agree with this. I love Vivian. It was on our list but I'm worried it's getting too popular for my liking.

Agree. I worry about the Angelina Jolie factor with Vivienne as well. NN "Vivi" is cute though, for any spelling.

I like the femininity of Vivienne, but agree it seems like overkill unless you're French or have some French background. Vivian would likely be the spelling most people she encounters would assume upon first hearing the name, so that seems "easiest".
Our little girl name is Vivienne Rose
However I am of French hertitage, have French speaking family and I wanted to honor that. I also like the pronunciation and spelling. So I would consider the pronunciation. In this spelling the accent is on the second syllable like
vi-vi-ENN
