she won't drink whole milk.

i've been offering the bean whole milk now for a couple of weeks. ?she refuses to drink it - she'll take a sip, make a face, and spit that shit right out. ?i've tried sippy cups, straws, even the bottle. ?i've mixed it with breast milk, soy milk, straight whole milk. ?nothing works.

anyone have any words of wisdom to offer? ?please? ?i'll give you a cookie.?

Re: she won't drink whole milk.

  • Have you tried warming it up?  When we first switched Nora over to whole milk, she'd only take it warm.
  • I added a 1/4 teaspoon of strawberry syrup to every 8 oz of milk. He was a booby baby and liked it a little sweeter.

I only did it for a month or less, until he got used to milk.

  • I know this won't be popular, but SIL couldn't get her DD to drink it either. So she flavored it with Strawberry and then started pulling the flavor out of teh milk. It worked really well for her. She was able to drink the cow milk straight after about a week.

  • I don't know, mine stopped taking it once I took her off the bottle. Hasn't touched it in like 6 mos.

  • yeah, we've tried warming it up and that's no help :( ?but i may turn to sweetening it and then decreasing the sweetness soon - it might be my only option.

thanks, all! ?chocolate chip or snickerdoodle? ?that's all i got.?

  • After trying and trying to get dd to drink whole milk (added strawberry, chocolate, you name it) I discovered that she likes Vanilla Silk (soy milk).  The Dr said it was fine if that is all she wants to drink.  We try to introduce her to regular milk a few times a month still and she won't drink it!

  • Try adding some carnation instant breakfast mix, it will still sweeten it, but at least add some nutrients too.

  • After trying skim milk, 1%, chocolate and various combinations, the only thing that worked for us was vanilla soy milk.  Also, he never really drank significant quantities until I cut out nursing sessions.  He still isn't a big milk drinker in general, so he eats lots of cheese.

  • I mixed 2oz milk into 6oz formula, then 4 oz of each, 6oz milk with 2oz formula, until he would drink straight milk without a problem.
