Anyone giving up anything or doing anything special for lent?
I'm debating whether it's
fair or not to give up alcohol. I may make an effort to do some kind of volunteer activity
or donation I wouldn't normally make once a week instead of giving
something up this year.
Re: lent?
No fair giving up alcohol for Lent (although if you haven't given it up yet then you may want to consider it, haha!!).
I'm debating on what to give up this year myself. Nothing food related because I know I'd just crave it the entire time I couldn't have it. I'm at a loss at the moment.
I usually give up ice cream and even thought it's the same thing every year, it's torture. This year will be even worse because I've been craving it the whole time I'm pregnant. But, it's a sacrifice.
I like the idea of doing something good each day too.
Last year I gave up going out to eat, and my husband gave up meat, so we were both eating mostly vegetarian home-cooked meals the whole forty days.
This year I think I'm giving up cursing. I'm really terrible about cursing when I'm at home.
I think I should really give up cursing as well. I want to have a cleaner vocabulary by the time baby gets here.
I'm giving up my lower back pain for lent.
It's true. or you can add something to your life that will cause you to reflect, better yourself, etc. It annoys me when people consider lent just to be a 40-day personal challenge, with no real benefit to themselves or others. Even if you're not overly religious, at least donate some time or money to a favorite charity or something if you choose to give something up.
Anyway, I definitely think I need to give up internet time, or at least seriously restrict it. I know that I spend too much time online during the day to the detriment of my housework, errands, better quality time with DS and DD, etc
There are definitely better, more productive, and joy-filled activities I could be doing with my time.
