Hello everyone!  I've been lurking for a few months, and thought I should take a moment to intro myself, as I'm likely to post questions or comments in the near future. 

DH and I have been married for 3 1/2 years.  He has 3 amazing kids from a previous marriage.  We're facing some challenges in adding to our family, in that he's in his mid-40's, and had a vasectomy 20+ years ago.  We're also dealing with advanced maternal age (according to our RE) as I'm 37.

Based on this info, the RE's we've spoken with have recommended going straight to IVF w/ ICSI.  We're still saving up for all of the procedures to get the ball rolling, since we're entirely OOP.

    Welcome! I'm totally OOP, as are a lot of these ladies. It adds another huge dimension of stress. This is a great place to get support - good luck to you!

    TTC #2 since July 2010
    FSH = 11 (20 on day 10 of CCCT)/ AMH = .98 / AFC=12ish
    5 IUI's with oral meds = all BFN
    March 2012 IVF (MDL Protocol) Started stims 3/3; ER 3/11 (9R, 8M, 7F) ET 3/16 (5dt of 2 blasts graded 3AB and 3BA, 3 frosties(!!) Beta 3/26 = 386; Beta 3/28 = 827; u/s 4/11 says TWINS! Boy/Girl Twins delivered at 36 weeks 6 days

    Welcome.  I am also 100% OOP at this time....def. stressed about the financial piece of things.  GL on you TTC journey-hope that it's a short trip for you.
    TTC since 10/09 Me-43 DH-44 RE and testing 10/10-11/10, Recommending IVF 1/11 New RE AMA and DOR-DH low motility IVF #1.1 cancelled 3/11 due to poor response IVF #1.2 May 2011, one perfect 8-cell embryo, 3dt-BFN, IVF #2.1 Converted to IUI d/t poor response. New RE 9/2011. IVF 2.2 completed using HGH,EPP,DHEA, Q-10 and accupuncture. Transferred one 8-cell, grade one embryo on 10/19. BFP 10/31/11 Chemical pregancy on 11/2/11. Started stims for IVF #3, our final try, on 12-2-11. ET on 12/18. Transferred 3 Grade A embryos-BFFN Planning DE IVF, late March/early April- Donors ER expected to be 4/2-4/4. PAIF/SAIF welcome

    ET 8/30 (1-8A+, 1-6A+)
    Beta#1 9/10: 350; Beta#2 9/12: 796; Beta#3 9/20: 9155
    Expecting Boy/Girl Twins! My babies were born 4/23/13 at 36w1d!

    Welcome!  I hope your stay is brief.

    A note about OOP...  We are OOP for some tests.  I mentioned it to the lab last week and she proceeded to give me a 40% discount if I paid for the tests in full right then.  It may not work with everyone but couldn't hurt to ask and every little bit counts.

    Thank you!  The RE we'll be using also gives a 20% discount for those paying OOP if they pay cash up front...I was excited about that.  I hadn't thought about asking the lab, but will now!  I think outside of buying my house and putting myself through college (before I met my DH), this is the most expensive endeavor!  But, in the end, it will be worth it if everything works out.

    The cost is ridiculous, but will be worth it if it means a baby.
